Touhou Junreki
Note: This short story takes place after The Capital Retaken (spoilers of the type already in the title), but is an account of events that occurred prior to the main series. Originally published in the Summer 1993 issue of The Sneaker, later anthologized in Kadokawa Shoten‘s The Fantasy III (Feb. 1994) and included in The Heroic Legend of Arslan: Official Reader’s Guide (アルスラーン戦記読本). A more literal translation of the title is “A Tour of the East.” Sino-Persian relations were established as early as the Han Dynasty, but this story is probably based on Sino-Persian relations during the Sasanid and Tang eras, of which the case of Narsieh is an example.
